A couple of weeks ago a friend emailed me a picture holding two 11lbs buckets of Nutella. A little crazy, my mind instantly start thinking of insanely crazy Nutella desserts. Desserts like these cupcakes, cookies or like this mind-blowing fudgy Nutella chocolate cake.

The moment I have read the recipe for this cake I was hooked. A thin layer of chocolate cake topped with a rich, fudgy layer of cream cheese and Nutella. Think Nutella Cheesecake. I got your attention, haven’t I?

The original name of this cake it’s a chocolate butter cake and I’ve learned it’s a Southern cake, but for me the name does not count much. Butter cake or simple chocolate cake this cake will be made in my kitchen over and over again.

It’s so, so easy to make. Literarily, it will take you 5 minutes to put it together. Mix the ingredients for the chocolate cake and press it evenly on the bottom of the pan. Mix the Nutella cheesecake filling and pour over the crust. How hard is that? And let me tell you something else. Not only this cake is easy to make but it calls only for 8 ingredients (that if we count the vanilla extract as well)

      Hi Kelli,
I did not use any frosting. The bars in the photo are from the middle of the pan. The edges were looking like Cheryl’s cake. Also, I think I took mine out of the over 1-2 minutes sooner.

Just curious… Why does your cake look so different from the cake in the link to Tidy Mom? Your’s looks like cake with icing on top (not counting the extra Nutella on the top piece)… Tidy Mom’s looks like a brownie without icing. Did you do anything different?

Okay, so I have made Tidy Mom’s nutella butter cake before, and yours looks very different! It looks like it has frosting and maybe straight nutella on top of that? What did you do differently? Yours looks way more delicious with the frosting like quality!

Thanks, Roxana! Just made these for a dinner party on Tuesday since Cheryl said to make them in advance.

Just took it out of the oven and had to try it with Bruster’s Vanilla Ice Cream!

    To die for!
