Chocolate chip cinnamon coffee cake

Tender and moist, this cinnamon coffee cake is boosting with flavor from both the addition of ground cinnamon to the cake and the cinnamon sugar and chocolate chips used as a crunchy topping. Chocolate Chip Cinnamon Coffee Cake from

One of my favorite stores to shop at is Home Goods/Marshalls. I absolutely love browsing through the home isles and look for new props, little accessible ingredients that make me go beyond my limits and try new combinations and flavors. One of these new to me items was cinnamon sugar.

Unlike the cinnamon sugar mixture usually cinnamon rolls call for, this cinnamon sugar had very big granules. I knew they would make a wonderful topping to any coffee cake. A coffee cake like this chocolate chip cinnamon coffee cake from my friend Laura.

This cinnamon coffee cake is boosting with flavor. Vanilla extract enhances the flavor of the ground cinnamon added to the cake. Greek yogurt keeps the cake tender and moist. Not overly sweet. Just pure perfection.

It’s comfort food with your morning cup of coffee. And not just for breakfast. You can have this cinnamon coffee cake at your 10 o’clock snack time. Or after lunch. Maybe with your midday or after dinner cup of coffee. Don’t worry. I drink coffee all day long and this coffee cake sure makes the moment way better!

If you prefer, i’m pretty sure you can mix the chocolate chip with the cake batter and not use them as a topping and if you don’t find cinnamon sugar like me, use raw sugar and a pinch of ground cinnamon.

This cake looks really good, but it would not last long around me because I adore cinnamon and chocolate together.

Made this last weekend…delish. I made the batter for the whole thing, used an 8 x 8 pan and just used half the batter. Froze the other half of the batter for another day. Thank you for sharing.
